Her last week was much like your dad's last day, though when we became aware that her death was imminent we were able to make the switch to hospice care and take her home for the last 3 days. I still don't know if that was the right thing to do. It is so very difficult to control the pain from MCC, and we were constantly on high alert adjusting meds trying to keep her comfortable.

I wanted to thank you for writing this. It's a painful, difficult story. And, unfortunately, you are not alone. But sometimes that is helpful to know...to know you are not alone. I read you words describing your father'...Gary,
I read you words describing your father's last days/moments and shake my head with knowing. So many of your details are eerily similar to my own father-in-law's passing from MCC only hours after your father's. We endured 5 days of waiting in the hospital after my FIL declined antibiotic treatment for 2 different blood infections. They had told us it would probably be 24-48 hours. It was more like 108 hours. Though their final coup de grace from MCC was from different sources, the outcome was the same. They both actively faced their deaths, making their own decisions that we supported. We, however, had more time to grieve and then have our hearts prepared as in the end we just wished for him to be at peace. I hope you are finding and are comforted with peace also. Sending hugs to you from the Detchman Family.

HeatherRnJsMommyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05577684523255539329noreply@blogger.com
